How do I add a new phone number or secondary device to Duo?

If you get a new phone, but you're keeping the same phone number, it's easy to re-activate Duo Mobile by following these steps.

If you get a new phone number or want to add a tablet, iPad, etc., however, the process is a little different. For example, a student studying abroad might get a new phone with a different SIM card or a Bucknell employee might want to add a new phone number to provide a different option for authentication.

Before you start

  1. Log into a service that requires Duo like myBucknell or Bmail. Enter your Bucknell Credentials.
  2. Stop at the duo screen and continue What form of authentication do you plan to use?
  3. Current students, faculty, and staff should update B-Alert if your phone number changes.

What form of authentication (used to verify identity) do you plan to use?

Click on the situation below that applies to how you will authenticate during the setup process. This step is required and most people can complete these steps without IT intervention. We have many ways to authenticate whether you need to reactivate duo or just gain one-time access to a Bucknell internal page or system. For more information check out this Duo Security FAQ article.

1. I have a new phone number and can use Duo SOS (Students Only) - Bucknell ID Required

2. I have a new phone number and I have a code generator

3. I have no access to one of the authentication methods

No access to one of the authentication methods

  1. If you're in Lewisburg, you can come to the Tech Desk with your photo ID and a staff person can help you add another number, or provide you an alternative source of authentication, like a code generator.

  2. If you're not in Lewisburg, and you're a student, you can go to https://duosos.bucknell.edu and get a temporary access code. You can then copy that code, and in the screen above, when you're asked to verify that it is you when you're adding a new device, you can click on Enter a Passcode.  Paste in the code that you've copied, then add a new phone number or other device.

  3. If you are not a student and are not located in Lewisburg, please call the Tech Desk.
