Read&Write for Google

Read&Write is literacy software that is useful for those who would like assistance reading, writing, taking notes, doing research, or working in a second language. Bucknell has a site license that allows all faculty, staff, and students to use Read&Write in the Google Chrome web browser.

Read&Write includes the following tools:

  • Text-to-speech: Read&Write will read a web page out loud so the client can hear a written document.
  • Check It: Read&Write will check your grammar and spelling to help evaluate your writing.
  • Talk&Type: Read&Write will record your spoken language into a written document.

Installing Read&Write for Google Chrome

  1. Sign in to Google Chrome, if you are not already.
  2. Read&Write for Google Chrome will appear as an extension next to your Google profile near the top right corner of Chrome

     
    • If you do not see it in your extensions, click on the white Extensions icon next to your Google profile in Chrome that looks like a puzzle piece. 

       
    • Find Read&Write for Google Chrome in the list of Extensions and click on the pin icon to pin it to your extensions toolbar. 

       
  3. Click on the extension to start using Read&Write for Google Chrome
