What is Zoom Phone?
Zoom Phone is a cloud-based VoIP (Voice-over-Internet-Protocol) system that will integrate with our existing Zoom Meeting platform to replace our traditional phone system Avaya. Zoom Phone can be used with simply a laptop and a WiFi/internet connection. It also allows for use on specific physical phones and on mobile devices.

Why did Bucknell switch to Zoom phone?
- The lifecycle of a phone system tends to be 8-10 years. Bucknell is approaching the 10-year mark with Avaya.
- With the change in the working landscape (remote/hybrid), Bucknell needs a phone system that easily adapts to the workers' environment.
- With the commitment to sustainability and working to reduce the university's carbon footprint, Zoom Phone allows us to reduce or almost eliminate the need for a physical desk phone altogether.
- Our team spent 1-year reviewing campus needs, vetting potential vendors, and completing an in-depth Proof of Concept process to choose the best fit for our campus’s telephony needs.
