Our current policy is to keep four years' worth of courses on the main Moodle server. We archive all courses more than four years old and move those archives to cloud storage.
In the past, we kept those older courses on a "Moodle archive server" that was running the version of Moodle that was being used at the time of the latest semester hosted on that server. For security reasons, we stopped maintaining any active Moodle archive servers, since those servers were flagged as a security risk (running unpatched versions of operating systems, plugins, etc.). Those past courses do exist as Moodle archives, however, and they can be retrieved from our cloud-based server and restored to the main Moodle production server as needed.
If your course no longer exists on the main Moodle server, you'll need to send an email to DPS, asking that the older course be retrieved from a course backup copy. In your email message, please mention the Course short name, if you remember it (for example, PSCY100-01-FA2025). If you don't remember the particular section number, please at least provide the course designation (for example, PSYC100) and the semester when it was taught (Fall 2025, in our hypothetical example). If you want the full content of that past course copied into a current (blank) Moodle course, please let us know as well the name of the current course into which you want the content copied.
