How to use the iMazing Converter for Windows to view HIEC files from an iPhone

New iPhones save files in HIEC format (rather than jpg or png) and Windows can not natively open these files. Users can download and install the free iMazing Converter for Windows which will allow them to easily view the HIEC files.

Download and Install the iMazing Converter for Windows

First, click on Make Me Admin from your list of programs and grant yourself administrative privileges.

Go to this site and choose Download for PC

https://imazing.com/converter/download

Download the installer, and when prompted for an administrative user, use your Bucknell username and password. You can use the default settings and create a desktop shortcut if you'd like.

Using the iMazing Converter to view HIEC files

Open the iMazing Converter. You'll see a window that says to drag files into the open window.

Once you drag a file into the window, you'll have some options. You can start by keeping the default settings and clicking on the Convert button in the bottom right.

You'll be prompted for a Save location: note that you can't save items in the same location where they originated. If the file was on your desktop, you can't save the converted file to your desktop, although you could create a new folder on your desktop for these converted files.

The conversion is very quick. Note that you can select multiple files at once for the conversion, so you don't have to do one at a time. If you want to view the files, you have an option on the Success screen to show the files.

You should now have an easy to view jpg file that your computer will be happy to open.
