How do I add a passcode to my meetings and Personal Meeting ID?

To improve security on for your Zoom meetings, please turn on the passcode option for future meetings, currently scheduled meetings, and your Personal Meeting ID. You will need to distribute new links to any currently scheduled meetings after you turn on the passcode setting.

In addition to the passcode, you may also choose to turn on the Waiting Room, but then you will need to start every meeting while you are logged into Zoom.

To set a Passcode on your future meetings and PMI:

  1. Login to Zoom at bucknell.zoom.us.
  2. In the left side navigation, locate Settings.
  3. Scroll down the Settings page to Security.
  4. Click the toggle switch to turn on Require a passcode when scheduling new meetings.
  5. Click the toggle switch to turn on Require a passcode for instant meetings.
  6. Click the toggle switch to turn on Require a passcode for Personal Meeting ID (PMI)
    1. Select All meetings using PMI
  7. Select the toggle switch to turn on Embed passcode in invite link for one-click join.

Note: If you have previously distributed a link to your PMI, you will need to share the new link.

To set a Passcode on current recurring meetings:

  1. Login to Zoom at bucknell.zoom.us.
  2. In the left side navigation, locate Meetings.
  3. Highlight the existing meeting and click Edit.
  4. Check the box in front of Passcode. Click Save.
  5. Distribute the new meeting URL to the meeting attendees.

Note: If you have previously distributed a link to your recurring meeting, you will need to share the new link.

To create a Personal Link:

You can also create a Personal Link, which will give you a nicer looking URL than your Personal Meeting ID with a passcode. Your Personal Link redirects automatically to your PMI + passcode.

  1. Login to Zoom at bucknell.zoom.us.
  2. In the left side navigation, locate Profile.
  3. Scroll down to Personal Link. Click Customize.
  4. Type something short, specific, and easy to share in the box.
  5. Click Save Changes.
  6. Distribute your Personal Link to people you meet with.

Note: You can also customize your Personal Meeting ID (PMI) but the passcode will be appended to the URL.
