What is Backup Buddy?
Backup Buddy was developed here at Bucknell to help our Mac users understand the health of their Crashplan backup.
When Backup Buddy runs for the first time on your Mac, you will see a screen that looks like this:

Here you can choose how you'd like to interact with Backup Buddy.
How often does Backup Buddy run?
It will silently check in with your computer once a week to make sure your backup is healthy. If it needs to inform you about a situation, it will pop up a Notification Center message in the upper right hand corner of your desktop, which you will be able to click on to receive further details.

How will I know if Backup Buddy found an issue?
If it finds a problem, it will give you the option of letting you address the issue yourself, or having a tech ticket automatically opened for you, with pertinent information about your computer, so that Tech Support is notified of the situation.

Depending on what version of macOS is installed, the Option button may not be visible, but moving the cursor over the window will make it visible. From there, you can select to either dismiss the message or view details, as shown in the first screenshot. The third screenshot is what you'll see if you view details. It explains what it found, and gives you an option to generate a Team Dynamics ticket automatically, or to decline to act on the message
How will I know that I successfully submitted a tech ticket if an issue is found?
If you successfully sent a tech ticket to report a problem, you should see the following message:

After you see this message, you should get a confirmation email that a service request was created.
