One feature of Bmail is Google Drive (or Bmail Drive). Google Drive allows you to easily create, share and edit files online. With Google Drive you can create:
- Documents - text based files, used for papers, letters, lists, etc.
- Spreadsheets - files used to organize or perform mathematical functions on data
- Presentations - files used to present or demonstrate information for an audience
- Forms - files used to collect survey information, which is then stored in a spreadsheet
- Drawings - images, shapes, or art
Google Drive has significant advantages over traditional files. Google Drive is stored in your Bmail account, which is much more convenient than storing a file on your computer or in Netspace. In addition, there are a number of features in Google Drive:
- Upload existing documents, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint files
- Create new documents from scratch
- Download Google Docs as Word, Excel, or PowerPoint files
- Share and edit documents online simultaneously with any Bmail or Gmail user
- Keep track of changes and people who made the changes to a document, and roll back to any version.
- Publish documents online as webpages or post documents to your blog.
- Email your documents as attachments.
All Google accounts under Bucknell (Bmail accounts) have unlimited storage in Google Drive during the time that students are at Bucknell (upon graduation, alums can keep email access but Drive and Photos storage will go away). Note that your Gmail account has limited storage of 15 GB if you are not a Bmail user.
Bmail Drive may not have all the editing, formatting, or formula functions of Microsoft Office, but they are much easier to collaborate and share with other users.
