How do I connect to bucknell.edu wireless on my Linux system?

Body

Because of the wide variety of Linux distributions available, it's difficult to provide the exact steps to connect to wifi on Linux. However, many Linux distributions provide a piece of software called Network Manager for wifi configuration. Here are the general configuration options that are necessary for Network Manager:

  • Wi-Fi security: WPA & WPA2 Enterprise
  • Authentication: Protected EAP (PEAP)
  • Check the box that says No CA certificate is required
  • PEAP version: Automatic
  • Inner authentication: MSCHAPv2
  • Username: your_bucknell_username (without @bucknell.edu)
  • Password: your_bucknell_password
NOTE: In the password field, select the people icon and select Store the password for only this user, as that ensures that the password will be stored encrypted.
