What is DuoSOS?
DuoSOS is a way for students, faculty, and staff to generate an urgent one-time bypass code for Duo in the event their phone is broken, forgotten, stolen, or you get a new phone that is not yet set up with Duo. It can also be used for those using code generators that are "stepped up" by Duo. A step up by Duo means that Duo wants verification that you are who you say you are because you might have tried too many times, you are in a new location, or your access device is registering a different location than your push device.
Who can use DuoSOS?
Current students, faculty, and staff can use DuoSOS as an urgent option.
What are the terms and conditions of using DuoSOS?
DuoSOS Service Agreement
This agreement outlines the terms for using the DuoSOS service. By accessing or using DuoSOS, you agree to comply with these terms.
1. Purpose of DuoSOS
DuoSOS is designed and intended for urgent circumstances when your phone is broken, forgotten, stolen, or you get a new phone that is not yet set up with Duo. It can also be used for those using code generators that are "stepped up" randomly by Duo and they have no other verified method (Duo Mobile app) to "step down".
Note: A "step up" by Duo means that Duo wants verification that you are who you say you are because you might have tried too many times, you are in a new location, or your access device is registering a different location than your push device.
2. Prohibited Use
Extended or habitual use of DuoSOS is strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Using DuoSOS as your main authentication method
- Daily use
- Extended use for more than a few days without notifying the Tech Desk/Information Security about your circumstances
3. Consequences of Misuse
Violation of this agreement, particularly through extended or habitual use, will result in the following actions:
- A verbal or written warning from Information Security
- Temporary suspension or permanent termination of your DuoSOS service without prior notice
