How do I crop and resize a photo for the directory?

A directory photo must meet this particular photo requirement:

  • No larger than 299x375 (pixels) or 75K (passport size) and no smaller than 10K

What we tend to find is that students attempt to upload photos that are too large and then sometimes they compress them down to a size that is actually below the requirement. If you try to upload a photo directly from a digital camera, it's almost certainly going to be too large. Fortunately, in most cases, a crop and re-save of the file will get it down to the appropriate size.

Both Microsoft Windows and Apple OS-X have built-in, free software that is capable of resizing photos.

Here is an article and a video for using MS Paint if you're a Windows user.
